OverView...

Overview
Overall I feel relieved, this project for me has been a drag and stressful. I managed to finish all my work to the best that I can produce and feel confident about it. Our storyline is about a girl dreaming and is in different locations’ wearing a dress that is making her travel around. The idea was to show our viewers that it is all a dream at the end of the film and it was the dress that was making her travel in time (The time machine dress). One of our strengths in this film is that the locations and styling fits in well with our mood given (Ethereal). I think some of our camera work was good but still needs to be more accurate to get the shots that we want in the future. I like the track that we have chosen for the film, simply because the visual content flows with it. Other aspects of the film like the dress; I feel is slightly a weak point only because it doesn’t reflect our designers work apart from the colour of the dress. However again I believe it goes with our mood. There’s a part in the film were the camera zooms and cut into the next scene looks very amateur but I think the way we have edited it is pretty good for beginners. The reason why we ended up with something a little less than we expected is because of some our files that got corrupted. The final piece doesn’t really go with what we wanted (the dress having electric effect) but I’m hoping we pulled it off. I have worked really hard and I believe the results are shown through our work. I have had couple of conflicts with my partner about the work which was slightly stressful but we managed to work it out and work together. This has probably been the hardest project yet for me but I always knew I can get through it. I have enjoyed doing this project, it was a great experience for me and I have learnt a lot about camera work, editing. However I don’t think I would want to get into a filmmaking career it’s just not the one for me. I would like to thank my partner Vanessa for working with me and the effort she put in this project and not to mention all the teachers giving me a hard time with this project. I truly appreciate it, for making me work harder and hopefully it’s shown through the film.

4th Scene: Her Bedroom For this scene use the footage available in the dvd, there might not be exactly what it says on the storyline but the point is she wakes up with the call, you see her get up, step out of the dress and walk away, after dress is seen on the floor, and that’s when you add the electric effect, if possible)
Phone is ringing
• Close up of eyes peacefully sleeping, SUDDENLY OPEN , CUT
• Medium frame she moves to pick up phone ringing next to her Cut (there is also a close up of the phone)
• Close up of her face, she says Hello CUT
• Split Screen all scenes at Once. CUT (could we have the screen divided in like 12, scenes can be repeated or you can just use various different footage from all the dvds, perhaps ones you didn’t use before, this just on just for a few seconds then cut suddenly as if its been plugged off.?

The end: Please add credits at the end, Models Solange Fernandes, Jessica Martinho, Styling and production Fathema Begum and Vanessa Fernandes

We edited the first part of the film which took us quite a long time to play with it until we got what we wanted. As soon as we finished filming our last scenes, we started to edit the other half. We transferred the files into quick time by using the stream clip mpeg.
When we tried to edit the some of the bedroom scenes, most of the files was corrupted and didn't open up. This is why at the end of our film the zoom and the fade into the next scene looked like amateur camera work I believe. Also in our London scenes the reason why we wanted the night vision look is because it gave that night time/slow motion effect which we thought looked good in our film.
One of the other reason why couldn't have the scene where our model takes off her dress and then there's a close up shot of it with electric effect to show the viewers that it was the dress that she was traveling with in her dream is because of the files that got corrupted and we couldn't use it.
This was really bad because showing that part was the whole idea as symbol of the time machine(The Dress).
In the end we added on the fuzziness of a TV screen effect to finish off the film and then we added on the credits.
Also the track we used for our film was 'Home' by the Foo Fighters. The reason why we choose to put this track is because it has this relaxing and smoothing feel to it. The lyrics reflects on our film because at the end the model is actually dreaming and is at home. The song itself is slow and we thought it worked well from the other choices we had i.e I look you by Whitney Houston.

Filming The Next Part Of Our Film....And More Complications

Monday 22nd March 2010

Me and Vanessa woke up early to go get the cameras, ready to shoot early hours of the morning on the 23rd. As we was making our preparations we found out that our model couldn't make it to our shoot. This made me and Vanessa feel stressed out because we couldn't think of anyone that will help us out during that time. Also the reason why we didn't have a backup model from before is because our model did say she was 100 percent sure she is going to make it to this shoot but obviously shit happens. Also because the model was Vanessa's sister I thought she would be able to convince her but we had no luck.
Anyway, after a few phone calls we managed to get someone that could help us out during that time and believe me we could not be more grateful then we were.
Although this model was slightly shorter but still had the long hair and the same complexion as the first we just had to make do.

We got back from Portugal on the 15th which was on a Monday, however as the uni agreed for us to give back the video cameras on the 16th we couldn't get them back out again for that week. So we had to get them the following week on the 22nd leaving us no choice but to shoot the next part of our film then. In between that time we was editing our first part of our film.

Filming Day....Review

Hello

I believe our filming went well in Lisbon. We managed to have plenty of time to shoot as we started our day nice and early. We started off by going to the monument to Christ which is suppose to represent the Christ of Redeemer in Brazil. We thought it would be good to film here because Brazil is another place known for its fashion although its not the capital cities of fashion as London, Milan, Paris and New york. Also because we was traveling we thought why not get some nice scenery for our film and plus it our storyline is a about a girl dreaming so anything can happen in the dream.
After we filmed what we needed in that location, we headed off to the beach and filmed our first scenes of our film.

Greek style

We have chosen to go for the Greek look. The reason for this is because we think that it works well with our mood(ethereal). The way we are going to show this is through hair and make up on the model. We're going to have flowers on the models hair and have it plaited into two starting from the top. We want the hair to flow with the wind in of our locations (The Beach and Christ Church scene).

Make up

The make up we want on the model is very simply yet probably have the bold eye make up and less on the lips. Also we want that glossy glow look. The images above are ideas and research of what we might want.

Model, Dress, Make up, Hair....

Our model above for our film (Picture 1 and 2). The reason why we chose Solange is because she has this unique look that we like and plus she has long brown/black hair and she's tall.
The dress that we chose originally was (Third image above) but we didn't have enough money to purchase the dress so we worked with something we had already (fourth image above).
The dress we have is light pink as well but it is long and does still work for our ethereal mood for our film.I just think it doesn't really reflect Jonathan Saunder's work fully. Although it does still reflect on his colour palette from some of his collections.

What going on...

Hello,

I have quite a lot to say, because I haven't had a chance to hop on and write away what has going on with my project at the moment. Going back to Week 6(presentation week).
Our presentation was on the Thursday 11th March 2010 and it didn't go to well but that's just how I felt.

During our presentation we had a lot of criticism over the littlest things that can be solved fairly quick (Models dress). The criticism I felt was more personal rather than professional simply because there was outcomes from me and my partner that we produced in that presentation which other students didn't have and which they didn't get penalized for, yet we we're told they are worried about us. Although we had test shoots of our location(Plan B if Plan A didn't work out), I did understand the fact the we was behind from a couple of other students but not far off for the way we got criticized.

I have undertaken either all personal or professional criticism and have worked ten times as hard to prove to myself that whether it was feedback in bad or good way that I have hopefully managed to show the results in my project.

I was fairly upset but I guess this is the industry I want to get into and I'm not going to let anyone put my hard work down.

Friday- 12th Flying to Portugal Lisbon to go fashion week and to do my filming. Why not kill two birds with one stone. Also this was done during our own time, NOT DURING UNIVERSITY TIMETABLE. My tickets are shown above.

Shoot Day...Southend on Sea (Plan B)

Pictures of southend and our preparations)

Hi

Today at 3am me and Vanessa prepared for our shoot, at Southend on sea Travelodge with our model. The Conditions of the hotel was not very good (budget price) and also the weather near the sea was extremely cold. This was one of the reasons we wouldn't get our scene exactly how we wanted. We had decided that the model wouldn't be able to perform well under the weather condition. Instead we still went out at 5am waiting for the sun to rise and we shot the landscape and the sounds of the birds and waves for our film that we would possibly need when it comes to editing.

The scene that we wanted to get today was not accomplished to my satisfaction but we hope that this scene can be done in Portugal (Plan A) with better weather conditions.
